La Salamandre begins with a little theatre: a long palm-lined drive, tropical planting all around, then a Moorish-inspired arched entrance that cools the mood before the lagoon appears. Set in Terres Basses on Saint Martin, this six-bedroom villa looks across Simpson Bay Lagoon with the sort of private, garden-wrapped setting that lets a group spread out properly.
The heart of the house is outdoors. A heated pool sits beside broad terraces, shaded lounging areas, and lagoonfront beach space, with a deck made for unhurried breakfasts, late swims, and the pleasant indecision of where to sit next. The boat dock adds a practical flourish for days on the water, and the barbecue keeps evenings nicely uncomplicated.
Inside, travertine floors, generous living and dining areas, and floor-to-ceiling sliding doors give the villa an easy indoor-outdoor rhythm. The kitchen is well equipped for real cooking, with an oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine, kettle, toaster, refrigerator, cookware, dishes, and silverware. Housekeeping is included, which means the group can enjoy the villa rather than negotiate the dishwasher rota.
La Salamandre sleeps up to 12 guests across six ensuite bedrooms. Five bedrooms have king beds, while the sixth is a kids’ room with two single beds, a sensible arrangement for families or mixed-age groups. Feel like Royalty — You'll feel like royalty staying at La Salamandre. Our family of 7 totally enjoyed the location and accommodations. Each couple had their own secluded bedroom and the outdoor pool was so beautiful. We had the best housekeeper!
Amazing! — This villa is AMAZING! BREATH-TAKING!!! A memory no one will ever forget! My family was blown away! Some hadn't traveled out of the United States. When they arrived at the Villa, their mouths fell open. The pool area was the family room. We were able to bond and just deal with the grief of losing so many members of our family. Beautiful — My family just returned from a 10 day stay in St. Martin. La Salamandre far exceeded our expectations. The property was gorgeous with ample space for our group of 12. It was a great location with an easy 5 min walk to Baie Rouge which was a beautiful beach with crystal clear water and great rock formations offering a perfect place for snorkeling. Our housekeeper took such good care of us. This vacation was surely a little taste of paradise.
Trip of a Lifetime — This is Joy and we considered this the trip of a lifetime. It was our 50th anniversary and ALL the family came with us. La Salamandre was perfect for us. Everyone had their own bedroom and bath, we had a table just for the 11 of us so we could all eat together. It was delightful. Our daily housekeeper was magnificent. She was dependable and became part of the family. We have pictures with the little grandkids and her She even brought them blow-up toys for the pool. Speaking of the pool: what a fabulous addition that was. Everyone was in it when we weren't doing something else. Our concierge was also incredible. She was always available for anything Would recommend this to anyone. Thanks for making our special trip have so many wonderful memories.
Perfect — Our accommodations were perfect for the 3 families (6 adults and 6 children). The pool was large and there was plenty of space to enjoy the beautiful weather there. The indoor spaces provided large closets, beautiful bathrooms, and spacious bedrooms. The kitchen and living areas also suited our group nicely. Our housekeeper was a gem by keeping the home meticulous and doing laundry services for our group...our concierge...was incredible: responsive, knowledgeable, and so hospitable. This was a trip our families will cherish forever and hope it's not too long before we can come back to enjoy again!

Our concierge and head of house were outstanding, and also go above and beyond to ensure the best possible vacation experience. We will be returning for sure!
Beautiful Villa — La Salamandre was a beautiful villa, better in person even than the pictures. The service from the housekeeper was absolutely the best! There does not seem to be many reviews of this villa on the internet. Don't let that scare you it is beautiful and the service is great. The pool is spectacular. We loved it!
