About the Property
Villa Libellule, meaning The Dragonfly, sits high on a promontory in Terres Basses, one of French St. Martin's most coveted corners. Set on five elevated beachfront acres between the Caribbean Sea and Simpson Bay lagoon, this five-bedroom villa has that rare island trick: big, cinematic views and a private garden pathway leading down to the soft sands of Baie Rouge Beach.
The approach already sets the mood. A curving driveway slips through tropical gardens to an entry courtyard with a fountain, then the house opens into breezy Caribbean elegance: high vaulted ceilings, limestone floors, traditional shutters, and a grand living room flowing toward a sea-facing terrace. The covered patio and open lounge are made for unhurried breakfasts, late-afternoon reading, and the quiet little ceremony of watching the water change color.
To the right of the main house, the pool pavilion feels like its own private stage. An expansive sun deck surrounds the private outdoor pool, with lagoon views and sunsets that do not exactly behave modestly. A covered wet bar, refrigerator, full bathroom, barbecue, and surround sound system make it easy to stay outside longer than planned. Sensible? Perhaps not. Correct? Absolutely.
All five bedrooms are fitted with king beds and en-suite bathrooms, giving up to 10 guests equal comfort and privacy. Air conditioning, room-darkening shutters, housekeeping, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, laundry facilities, a generator, parking, and wheelchair accessibility bring the practical side quietly into line, so the villa can host families or groups without anyone drawing the short straw.
